Yorkville University Launches New Associate of Arts Degree Program in B.C.

Vancouver, B.C., June 4, 2024 – Today, Yorkville University is proud to announce the launch of its new Associate of Arts degree – a foundational program in the humanities and social sciences designed for students aspiring to begin their university journey before transferring into a bachelor’s degree program.

Offered both on campus out of Yorkville U’s Vancouver, B.C. campus beginning in October 2024 and online beginning in October 2025, this 18-month program (including a one-term break) is one that prepares students with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to transfer directly into the third year of a bachelor’s degree at leading universities in British Columbia upon completion.

“This versatile program provides students with a strong foundation for further studies and personal growth,” Dr. Nicholas McKenzie, Interim Chair of Yorkville U’s Associate of Arts program, said of the program, which is equivalent to the first two years of a four-year bachelor’s degree.

“We equip students with the tools to analyze, synthesize, and integrate knowledge, to think critically about an issue, solve problems, and apply their understanding in collaborative and individual settings.”

Developed by a robust team of expert faculty and instructional design specialists, Yorkville U’s Associate of Arts curriculum was designed with the flexible learning modalities and small class sizes that first- and second-year students prefer, without sacrificing academic rigour.

From Anthropology and Art History to Statistics and Psychology, Film Studies and Biology to Sociology and Calculus, plus many more course offerings – this flexible program equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their individual goals, while allowing for a broad exploration of the humanities and social sciences.

Like all of Yorkville U’s programs, the Associate of Arts is flexible yet rigorous, allowing students to complete a high-quality degree program while managing other life commitments. And with multiple start dates a year, students don’t have to wait to start their degree.
