MACP Prof Rahul Jain Publishes Insightful Research on Healthcare Professionals’ Mental Health Amid COVID-19
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) Prof Rahul Jain was recently published in the International Journal of Occupational Safety & Health (IJOSH).
Titled Mental Health and Well-being of Healthcare Professionals Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic in Canada, Jain’s article delves into the mental health impacts of the increased risks Canadian health care professionals confronted over the course of the pandemic.
“I hope readers will find this article, which highlights key themes and identifies critical gaps in the existing literature, informative and enlightening,” Jain said of the article, which was co-written by Karun Kishor Karki (University of the Fraser Valley), Anjelica Shrestha (McMaster University), and Riham Al-Saadi (University of Windsor).

Healing Through Art: BCA Grads Rojin Hamid and Krista Barr Publish Innovative Colouring Book
Class of 2024 Bachelor of Creative Arts grads Rojin Hamid and Krista Barr recently published their joint Yorkville University thesis project, Creative Catharsis: A Colouring Book Inspired by Art Therapy.
Described by Barr as a tool to promote healing through art therapy, the 43-page contemporary adult colouring book allows readers to “let go, take a pause, and focus on something very different from their daily stresses and responsibilities.”

Bachelor of Creative Arts Student Franklin Briceño Making Waves with Viral Music Videos
Yorkville University’s Franklin Briceño is already being touted as “Toronto’s Next BIG Director” – a title the Bachelor of Creative Arts student is determined to earn.
The Panamanian-born-and raised music video director earned high praise for his recent string of hit videos from the media platform Creatives Canada back in a September post on Instagram.
Briceño’s biggest hit to date came with the release of OTRA VEZ, a video he directed for Latin singer-rapper Esco. The viral video, which features popular Raggaeton artist Bebeboy, racked up more than 100,000 views in just five days upon its release back in August.

Turning Passion into Practice | MACP Grad Ali Woods on Starting Better Life Therapy and Publishing Her First Book
Since graduating from Yorkville University’s Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program in April 2023, Ali Woods has hit the ground running – opening her own therapy practice, Better Life Therapy, and publishing her first book, It’s What’s On The Inside That Matters.
The London, Ontario-based therapist’s journey to success was anything but conventional, rather full of twists and turns that helped shape her into the professional she is today.
Woods recently sat down to share the story of her transition from child welfare worker to private practice owner, how her education at Yorkville University helped guide her career, and what inspired her to write a journal designed to support clients in their therapeutic journey.

BCA Alum William Gauthier Ends 2024 on a Triple High: Graduation, Studio Launch, and New Short Film
Class of 2024 Yorkville University grad William Gauthier ended 2024 on not one, but a trio high notes – graduating from the Bachelor of Creative Arts program in September, and launching his new production company, Studio Vallion, and wrapping the studio’s first short, Resilient Hope, in November.
Founded alongside his fellow Toronto Film School alums Alyssa Duncan and Josh Boutros, Gauthier said he created Studio Vallion as both a vehicle for the stories he wants to tell and as a home for the “invaluable collaborators” that make it possible for him to do so.

Yorkville & TFS Grads Shine in Alexander Carson’s ‘Alberta Number One’ at International Film Festivals
Yorkville University’s Alexander Carson recently celebrated the launch his latest film, Alberta Number One at two festival premieres – the 53rd Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montréal, and the 60th Chicago International Film Festival.
The 83-minute feature was both directed and produced by Carson, the Associate Chair of the Bachelor of Creative Arts program at Yorkville University, and featured a handful of his former BCA and TFS students amongst its behind-the-scenes crew.
