Dr. Oluchi Oti

Dr. Oluchi Oti, Program Chair of Yorkville’s Project Management program at Algoma, was recently selected as one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch of 2024.

Organized by Canada International Black Women Excellence (CIBWE), the prestigious recognition honours the outstanding achievements and rise of Black women across various fields, including entrepreneurship, community leadership, sports, corporate sectors, media, entertainment, politics, and youth under 25.

Oti likened being recognized with the award to “standing on the shoulders of giants, honouring their legacy, while forging new paths for future generations.”

“It’s a celebration of individual and collective excellence and a call to continue shaping a more inclusive and empowered future. This award is a collective step towards amplifying diverse voices and breaking barriers. It’s also a testament to the power of resilience, vision, and the impact of unwavering commitment to excellence,” she said of the award, which will be celebrated at the annual Black Pearls Gala on October 24 in Brampton.

“I most look forward to sharing the stage with such an esteemed group of women, trailblazing in their various fields.”

Nominated for the award anonymously, Oti was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch of 2024 for her visionary approach and transformative impact in the corporate landscape as a dynamic business strategist. With a career spanning over two decades, Oluchi has earned a reputation for her keen foresight, innovative problem-solving skills, and a relentless drive for excellence.

Her transition to educational leadership at Yorkville was motivated, she said, by a desire to drive systemic change by leveraging her industry expertise to inform strategic programs and decision-making. As the inaugural Program Chair of Project Management at Yorkville University, she currently leads 250 diverse faculty educating 5,000 students.

Beyond the classroom and boardroom, Oluchi, who lives with a physical disability, is a vocal advocate for equity, diversity, inclusion and women empowerment. Her commitment to diversity has been instrumental in fostering inclusive workplace cultures, while driving financial success. Her leadership continues to inspire a new generation of diverse leaders to pursue excellence and effect meaningful change in the project management and business world.
